Twenty Minute Challenge and a Bonus Bald Eagle

Not such a clear picture of a Bald Eagle, but, I had to share it!  My neighbor and I have decided to walk every trail in every park in our local park district; no set time limit for the walks or for when we complete the venture.  It is serendepitous in plan, we go when we can, weather permitting.   The mild November weather lingered for our walk today.  As we emerged from the woods into a large open meadow, one bird flew by (Bald Eagle #1), a second followed.  The second Bald Eagle rode the thermals for a long time.  We lingered.

It seems I can't stop with the Twenty Minute Drawings.  I'm loving it!  Its great practice. The two shown here were done during AP Studio Art Class.  It was a quiet day, the students were working with such intensity that I was able to sit (for the most part uninterrupted) and finish in twenty minutes. The top piece is oil on watercolor paper and the bottom was done in my sketchbook using mixed media; prismacolor markers, watercolors and pencil.
I guess I'd better enter  The Twenty Minute Challenge soon.

  1. These are terrific--you've got to post them on the 20 minute site. I especially like the top one. I actually have a 10-minute drawing of my husband--he had nodded off on the sofa and I drew it on the back of a paper plate. I scanned it into my photos but he wouldn't like it being posted; in fact, he hasn't seen it.

Two eagles in one day is exciting. We have some in this area, so I've had two sightings in nine years. Someone (a local I'm sure) told me that seeing an eagle fly over brings luck. Enjoy your walks.

Your 20 minute studies are terrific so full of life and vitality...I'll have to check out the site link that you've included...sounds like a gret way to keep the energy moving...it's certainly seems to be working for you.

  3. The twenty minute studies are energizing and leave me seeing so much color. I was driving home today, struck by the beauty of the November landscape--today being misty and grey---the colors soft.

  5. Thanks Celeste, I like the 20 min painting as well. I did a few more w/ my students, exended to 25 min. I may post their work next week.
Yes, the Bald Eagle has made a comeback in Ohio (like many states)..When I started birding in the eighties, there were only 1 doz. nesting pairs in the state. Now we have Eagles in just about every county (if not all). Although I see them more than I used too, its a thrill each time!
