Painting from a Dream

About a week ago, I dreamed of a landscape somewhat like this.  It had a mauve sky, and a dark green treeline.  I don't recall the foreground so I improvised.

(In real life this painting's sky is more of a mauve, the camera doesn't relay the color accurately.)

  1. how interesting to paint a dream. I would like to do that. This is unusual and I imagine you return to your dream each time you look at it.

  2. I do return to the dream when I look at it. I'm also very happy with this painting. There is something to be said for how relaxed we are in a dream state; tapping into our creativity. What was great about this painting is that I was able to go to that place of openness while I painted it.
I had a dream once about visiting a gallery full of fantastic landscapes that I really loved and admired, wishing I could paint like that. When I woke up, I realized that I was envious of paintings I had conjured up in a dream. This in turn made me realize that I could paint like that!

  3. I really like this. Dreaming, I think, is like a puzzle piece--makes you wonder where it fits.

This painting looks like a place for meditating.
